Dr Amjad Malik, BDS, DGDP, RCS

Dr Malik leads a highly-trained team of dental professionals at Improve Your Smile, dedicated to providing high quality dentistry in a welcoming environment.

Specialist in implants, reconstructive and aesthetic dentistry

Dr Malik has accumulated a wealth of experience during his career which spans more than 25 years. His main dental interests are Implants, and Reconstructive and Aesthetic Dentistry. He is a member of the ADI and has a fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He is also expert in short-term orthodontics including ClearSmile Brace, ClearSmile Aligner and Inman Aligner processes. With such experience, he can tailor patients’ treatments to their specific needs whether routine care, or specialist procedures such as restoring missing teeth or dealing with collapsed bites. He also treats patients who have jaw joint problems, requiring advanced restoration of heavily broken-down teeth.

Training

Since graduating from the Birmingham Dental School in 1982 and subsequently gaining the DGDP RCS (Royal College of Surgeons, UK), Dr Malik has continually updated his training and specialisms by participating in a number of advanced dental education programmes at home and abroad.

He has been personally trained by some of the world’s most prominent implant experts including dental implant pioneer Dr Hilt Tatum, the UK’s leading implantologist Dr Ashok Sethi, and Dr Stuart Orton-Jones, known internationally for his lectures on Quality Dentistry. In 2011, Dr Malik completed an arduous 9-stage continuum studying Restorative Dentistry with Dr John C. Kois at the prestigious and internationally-renowned Kois Centre in Seattle, USA. The centre concentrates on the latest advances in aesthetics, implantology and restorative dentistry. He is now studying to become a UK Mentor for the Kois Center.

In addition to his specialisms in implantology and aesthetics, Dr Malik holds a strong interest in bite disorders and problems affecting the ‘chewing’ muscles and the joints between the lower jaw and the base of the skull. He studied Dental Occlusion, Temporomandibular Joint issues, and Comprehensive Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry at the Dawson Academy, UK.

Instructor and Lecturer

Dr Malik has always been keen to share his knowledge, and has worked with dental students at the Royal London Hospital as an honorary lecturer. Students and other individuals seeking a career path in dentistry have always been welcomed at Woodford House Dental Practice with Amjad as their mentor. Many who trained with him have gone on to become dentists and dental hygienists themselves.

For many years he was a senior UK clinical instructor for the Rosenthal Institute’s ‘Aesthetic Advantage’ course in London and New York.

Along with his wife Moona who is Practice Manager at Improve Your Smile, Amjad Malik is also involved in peer assessment – the couple are both judges in the highly respected annual UK Dentistry Awards.
